Module 3

Illustrating for a Written Text

In this Module we will explore the process that a graphic designer follows to arrive at their final illustration for a text. This Module begins with exploring the art of thumbnail sketching and the close reading of a text. Next, we will explore the process of studying the subjects that will make up the design, being attentive to details and also to the larger general effect. We will also look at the lay-out of the typography and how to balance the design to accommodate the words.
