The Art of the Thumbnail

Materials:

11×14 white sketchbook [from Drawing I]

Pencil #2B or #3B

White eraser/ or Gum eraser

What to do:

Laying your pad Vertically , create 4 different compositional windows of your subject. They can be rectangular, square, Horz/vert. They do not have to be all the same shape. Variety is more interesting. Make the sheet look like its own composition. Stay clean or clean up after sketching to create a formal presentation.

Upload Completed Drawing

Upload your finished piece in the assignment section of Brightspace under “The Art of the Thumbnail” assignment. Take a photo of your drawing by placing it in a vertical upright position to take the photo. This will prevent distortion, so I can analyze your drawing. When you submit your drawing, please write a sentence on why this subject, what you liked about it and the emotion you are after.

Due: Thursday, March 25, 11:59 am.

This is my drawing of pliers. I was fascinated by the combination of utility and sweeping elegant curves. With your upload, give me a sentence that expresses what intrigued you about your object.
