Project 3: 3 Eggs in 5 Values, Part II

This video is a continuation of this project- 3 Eggs in 5 values. In it I go over the 5 values, pencil hardness’s and the pencil technique for each area of the drawing. I also have some tips to render your eggs effectively. I have provided some examples of student work so you know what I am looking for. Note that some of the eggs in these drawings are brown eggs and the values are darker than on the white egg project we are doing. I have some instruction within the captions as well. Please watch the video carefully.

Assignment:

Please continue working on your drawing of 3 Eggs [Although there are rolls in the drawings below- you are not to do the roll. Only the 3 eggs]. Feel free to email me your drawing-in-progress and I will be happy to help you out.

Here there are 2 white eggs and one brown egg. Background is nicely done, emphasizing the lights on the white eggs.
Note in this student work, that there are 2 brown eggs and one white egg. Keep your eggs light like the white egg.
Note how light the eggs are in this drawing. There are nice soft edges which adds to the feeling of roundness in the eggs.
In this drawing, the shadows are too dark, and the transitions between the shadow and the lights is too abrupt. Note the value scale at the top to help this student get the right values.
